Games Engine

The fully funded Games Engine Skills Bootcamp is a 12-week programme designed to equip you with the practical skills required in the gaming industry.

​

This Skills Bootcamp introduces both the Unity and Unreal Game Engines, which are widely used in the games industry to develop interactive applications such as computer games and industry applications such as prototyping and training.

​

Students will gain a broad understanding of the programming and art skill sets for both game engines and develop a specialism in one of these fields during the course.

 

After completing the core modules, you will have the option to take either the Games Designer or Games Developer Pathway in this Skills Bootcamp.

​

When is the Bootcamp delivered?
The Bootcamp will be delivered for 12 weeks, from Monday to Friday, from 9:30am to 4:30pm (including both learning and self-learning hours).

Eligibility

As well as the criteria listed on the apply page, the general requirements for this course include:

 

This course is aimed at aspiring game developers or designers with a background in computer science, software engineering, digital art, 3D art, or a related subject – or at self-taught gaming hobbyists with a solid grasp of the skills required to become a Unity or Unreal Game Engine Expert.

  • Learners must have a computer/laptop that meets the Unity Hardware requirement

  • A mouse and/or accessories you work best with

This course is a full-time commitment, and you will be expected to attend all sessions, including those between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Development

​Skills
  • You will develop game features, and systems and learn to create or design in the Unity or Unreal game engine.

  • Through the client-facing project, you will show familiarity with game  development skills by following the production of a working game from concept through to publication

  • Understanding the game mechanics you have at your disposal to make a game work

  • By the end of this course, you will have solid core skills and competencies across programming, UI, debugging, asset management and Unity art skills
